iPhone cannot find your printer? Start here

DMF Software · Updated September 10, 2026

If your printer does not appear on your iPhone, first separate a missing print option from a printer that cannot be discovered. They need different checks.

Check the basics first

  1. Confirm AirPrint support. Check your exact printer model with its manufacturer. Wireless connectivity by itself does not establish AirPrint compatibility.
  2. Check the network. Make sure your iPhone and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network. If the printer has a network-status screen or report, use it to confirm its connection.
  3. Check the app. Open its Share or Actions menu and look for Print. Some apps do not support printing, so a missing Print option is not proof of a printer fault.

These are the starting checks in Apple’s AirPrint instructions. AirPrint uses network connections; a Bluetooth connection to a computer is not a substitute.

If the printer still does not appear

Note the exact symptom: missing from the list, visible but unreachable, or receiving a job without producing paper. Check the printer’s display for an error and use its manufacturer’s connection instructions. Avoid changing several router settings at once; keep a record of each change so it can be reversed.

Work through the connection with PrinterHealer

PrinterHealer helps find printers, diagnose connection problems and work through recovery checks. It cannot make an incompatible printer support AirPrint or replace a physical repair. The next step depends on what the checks find.

Confirm the result with paper

A printer appearing in a list is only part of the result. Print a test page, check that it physically arrives, and then retry the document from the app you originally used. PrinterHealer’s test-page workflow helps verify that last step.
