Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the PrinterHealer iPhone app and the website at printerhealer.com (together, “PrinterHealer”, “we”, “us”) handle information. PrinterHealer is an independent app operated from Ontario, Canada. By using PrinterHealer you agree to this policy.
Information used locally
With your Local Network permission, PrinterHealer reads nearby printer service records, status, capabilities, and local connection identifiers. For explicitly supported HP printers, it may also read limited recovery information from the printer's local web interface. This information is used only to find, diagnose, wake, and publish a printer to Apple's print system — all on your device.
PrinterHealer may store the verified printer route, hostname, local IP address, printer UUID, MAC address, model, status, and Wi-Fi Direct network name on your iPhone. A Wi-Fi Direct password is stored separately in the device-only iOS Keychain, is never synced to iCloud, and is never written to the activity log.
Syncing that information across your devices is a PrinterHealer Pro capability. Without Pro it stays on the one device. If a Pro subscription lapses, PrinterHealer stops syncing but does not delete anything you have already saved, either on your device or in your own iCloud; you can remove all of it at any time with Reset Printer Data.
Actions and sharing
PrinterHealer communicates only with printers on your local network. Printing from other apps stays within iOS and your local printer; PrinterHealer does not receive those documents. A test page generated by PrinterHealer may be sent directly to your selected printer over local IPP/IPPS after you request it. Wi-Fi Direct configuration changes require Apple's system approval prompt.
After a physical print test, PrinterHealer can generate a sanitized compatibility report on your iPhone. The report shows the result, printer manufacturer/model and reported firmware, iPhone hardware model, iOS and app versions, and whether IPP or IPPS was used. It excludes passwords, Wi-Fi network names, IP and MAC addresses, printer UUIDs and serial numbers, and document contents. You see every field before sharing. PrinterHealer does not upload the report automatically or select its recipient; information leaves your iPhone only when you tap Share Test Result and choose a destination in Apple's share sheet.
PrinterHealer does not sell or share your information with the developer, advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers. The app contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
Purchases
PrinterHealer Pro (a yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase) is processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive your purchase status from Apple so we can unlock Pro features on your devices — never your payment details or Apple ID. Purchase management and receipts are handled by Apple.
What we do not collect
No account, no login, no name or email collected by the app, no advertising identifiers, no analytics SDKs, no precise device location, and no copy of your printer or network data on any server we control.
Website analytics
The website at printerhealer.com uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to provide aggregate traffic and performance measurements. It does not use cookies or local storage to measure visits, and it does not receive printer, network, or document data from the app. This website measurement is separate from the PrinterHealer app, which contains no analytics.
Service providers
- Apple Inc. — App Store distribution, purchases (StoreKit), the printing interface and Print Service Extension, and — for PrinterHealer Pro, when iCloud is enabled — private syncing of saved printers across devices using the same Apple Account. That data goes to your own iCloud, not to a server we control. Handled under Apple's privacy policy.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — serves this website and provides aggregate website traffic and performance measurements. It does not receive your printer data, which never leaves your device.
- Google LLC (Google Fonts) — this website loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so visiting a page on printerhealer.com sends your browser's IP address to Google to fetch the fonts. This applies to the website only; the PrinterHealer app makes no requests to Google and contains no Google code.
Data retention
Saved printer information remains on your iPhone so the printer can be found again. You can select Reset Printer Data on PrinterHealer's main screen to remove saved printer profiles, recovery details, Keychain credentials, and Wi-Fi configurations created by PrinterHealer. Removing the app also removes its app data and Wi-Fi configurations. Local Network permission can be revoked in iPhone Settings under Privacy & Security → Local Network; Wi-Fi networks can be managed under Settings → Wi-Fi.
Security and compatibility
PrinterHealer prefers encrypted IPPS when a printer supports it. Some printers provide only unencrypted IPP, and supported HP wake checks use local HTTP. PrinterHealer should be used only with printers and networks you own or are authorized to manage. PrinterHealer cannot disable a VPN or change router settings, printer firmware, administrator settings, or certificate trust settings.
Children
PrinterHealer is a utility that does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other user.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the app and on this page with a new date above.
